What happened to crude oil prices in Canada?

CALGARY - Crude oil prices slumped to a 10-month low Monday morning before rebounding at midday, adding to the volatility that has dogged the Canadian energy sector recently.

So back in 2008, when we hit that $4.06 peak in gasoline, crude oil was actually at $140 a barrel in those dollars. And so today's dollars, it's about $183. So again, if we persist at $120, that's expensive, but not nearly toward a peak from a historic perspective.

Why did crude oil futures rise Thursday?

Crude oil futures rose Thursday amid signs of a tightening global market and as the geopolitical outlook in the Middle East remains uncertain. The West Texas Intermediate contract for April gained 70 cents, or 0.9%, to settle at $78.61 a barrel. The Brent contract for April added 64 cents, or 0.77%, to settle at $83.67 a barrel.
